Guaranteed sunshine and value for money has seen Egypt and Morocco are the most rapidly developing into a vacation destination this winter, easyJet revealed today.
Low fares airlines have launched new routes from Luton to Sharm El Sheik in Egypt this week, with the first flight proved to be one of the strongest sellers in more than 90 percent sold out. Additional flights from Gatwick to Manchester to Agadir and Marrakech have also been launched to cope with increasing demand.
easyJet claims that despite the recession constant, Brits still determined to find a destination that offers good value and sunshine.
Paul Simmons, easyJet’s UK general manager, said: “Many Brits, including those who choose to holiday at home this year, are looking to jet from this winter as an antidote to disappointing summer weather.
“While the purpose of the traditional winter sun as Canaries are still very popular, we have seen increased demand for the cities in Egypt and Morocco.
“More adventurous Brits and will travel further to get more for their money. The guaranteed sunshine and facilities offered additional incentives.
“In addition, a new regular low cost flights to this destination gives customers the flexibility to take a short break, rather than limited to the traditional seven and 14-night vacation package duration.”
Claims are supported by American Express reported this week that Egyptian currency revealed 60 percent sales increase last year as increasing numbers of Brits holiday in this country.
TravelSupermarket.com agreed that Egypt and Morocco are on track to receive a record number of British visitors this summer.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at TravelSupermarket.com, said: “We have seen growing demand for energy for purposes such as Morocco and Egypt during the last 12 months.
“There are many different kinds of accommodations are available in places such as Marrakech and Sharm el Sheikh which when combined with the sun that is guaranteed to make North African great holiday choice.”
easyJet has launched new routes from Luton to Sharm El Sheik in Egypt, Gatwick and Manchester to Agadir to Marrakech in Morocco for a few days in response to increased demand. The airline already flies from Gatwick to both Sharm and Marrakech.
