In six days, some top cars and drivers Caribbean will gather in Guyana on the South Dakota Circuit for what he called one of the largest Caribbean Motor Racing Championship, (CMRC).
President of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR & SC) Aaron Bethune stated that the Caribbean championship that so closely contested between Barbados’ Mark Maloney and David Summerbell from Jamaica, this year will be one that society would not want to miss.
“We anticipate one of the largest turnouts on Sunday,” GM & SC president said, stating that he was glad to know that the region’s best motorcycle racer all ready to put on a spectacular day of racing for the Guyanese public.
“You know, this is boxing CMRC president of GMR & SC and I have to let you know that we are very pleased to see this. We have everything in place, too. There Summerbell from Jamaica and Mark Maloney of Barbados who are equally struggling single each other for the title of top Caribbean champion driver but I think what will be interesting to see, is how well the boys we were, Mark Vieira, Andrew King and Kevin Jeffery will conduct the crew came in from Barbados, “Bethune said.
CMRC driver Summerbell championship lead with 48 points, while Barbadians Mark and Stuart Maloney had 39 and 22 points respectively.
“I think the two Marks (Maloney and Vieira) Andrew (King) and Summerbell will give a good show, but I also think that all eyes will be Roger Mayers and the Ford Focus because believe me, that car is one of the fastest we have in the Caribbean now and I know that Roger is all excited to come to Guyana, so of course, this will be a big show, “Bethune noted. Mayers, driving his black disgusted look turbocharged Ford Focus, amazed audiences in Barbados with the tactics and skills to drive the car speed.
Motor-racing Many experts believe that the car fit the wok high-speed track from the South Dakota circuit and predicted that the Mayers’ competitors will have their work cut out.
But while Bethune was optimistic about the drivers and cars participants Caribbean Series championship, the GMR & SC president is equally excited about the Super Bikes confrontation.
Bethune said that with the return of Kevin Graham and the local ‘Valentino Rossi’ Stephen Vieira in the form of ripping, not to mention the participation of bikers from Jamaica, and Barbados, this may be the same as or even more competitive than the Group 4 cars. He also noted that the lower classes who are subscribed to by all classes of almost full and he took time to praise the deep interest shown by local drivers to the November meeting.
Bethune, who is also competing in the class 2A Group, said that in the group, the car has improved very much. “Guys used to do like 43 seconds now, as they went down to 42 and even 41, so it will be hot, and expect some thrilling racing. I will not leave out the Group 2B and Group 3 and beginners and also between the 125 motorcycle riders because They also will do. ”
Regardless of race itself, Bethune believes that sport also plays a role in sport tourism, since he said they expect the entry of foreigners to meet in November.
“From Barbados we expect about 200 people, and then another 60-70 between Jamaica and Trinidad and then there is the United States and Canada who came to Guyana in a number of them, so we are looking for something more than 600 people to see themselves. Most people even if they do not come to Guyana for the other races, they’ll come to November and most of the time they bring their families and so on, “said Bethune.
Twenty-three events are placed for the day that will rev off at 9:00 pm sharp with a lap of honor conducted at 8:30 am. Bethune could not say when President Bharrat Jagdeo will be on hand, but he said Prime Minister Samuel Hinds together with Minister of Tourism, Maniram Persaud and Minister of Sport, Dr Frank Anthony will be there.
