St Kitts-Nevis Labor Government tourism policy continues to reap dividends for the twin-island Federation with the announcement that British Airways is expected to carry 10,000 passengers to St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport at the end of the year and the numbers are expected to increase significantly in 2010.
This will be the highest number of weekly flights service visitors who had taken to St Kitts for 12 months.
Minister of State, Tourism, Sports & Culture, the Hon. Richard Skerritt says BA arrival rate will exceed all expectations and the airline’s decision to launch operations to St. Kitts in the market conditions are challenging, has proven successful.
This will be the largest number of visitors ever weekly service brought to St. Kitts for 12 months.
“We remain optimistic that the number of passengers will continue to increase until 2010 as the travel business steadily regains momentum,” said Minister Skerritt said in a statement issued by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.
According to the figures advanced bookings, “we must reach the 10,000 mark BA passengers in December, and projections for 2010 already looks promising.”
Minister Skerritt continued, “St. Kitts hoping to become part of the Caribbean BA long-term strategy and to continue our special relationship.”
More than 10,000 passengers expected to travel to St. Kitts from England during the first year since British Airways began operating in January 2009.
This figure would represent growth of 50 percent for the second half of 2009, after more than 4,000 passengers who travel to St Kitts in the BA between January and June this year.
Growth in the number of passengers to St Kitts England is set to continue until the year 2010, following the initial BA second weekly service on March 30, 2010.
On the back of a new twice weekly service BA, St. Kitts Tourism Authority has dedicated 2010 as “Celebrate St. Kitts’ year, to mark a program marketing and promotion initiatives, celebrating a key niche markets Heritage, Culture, Sports, and Culinary.
New mid-flight Sunday to Tuesday to immediately increase the capacity of St. Kitts while offering greater flexibility for the duration of visitor nights.
British Airways will use the same configuration of the existing Saturday flight with three class, 280 seat Boeing 777 aircraft that hold 40 Club World seats, 24 World Traveler and World Traveler Plus seats 216.
