San Francisco currently has more than 45 miles of designated bike paths throughout the city and will add six miles for six months. Newly painted bike lane has been painted a different color for better visibility and a striped to ensure motorists can distinguish between bike paths and lanes of traffic. Along with the new bike path the city will install a lot of new bike racks and changing the traffic signal time to allow cyclists extra time to get through the intersection. Updates and additions to the city wide bike plan will be beneficial to both city residents and tourists.
These changes will create a much faster and safer travel to San Francisco a large population of bicycle enthusiasts. Increasing the number of bicycle lanes, plus the time change traffic signals, will give cycling commuters the option is more secure. San Francisco tourism has seen a big spike in bike rentals for several years and this number will likely increase because of additional security measures by the city. City officials recently stated that they are committed to increasing the number of bicycle commuters and tourists in San Francisco by creating a more inviting and safer city wide bicycle plan.
