Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism, Sports & Culture for St. Kitts, has announced that the 14th Annual Island of St. Kitts Music Festival will be held from 24-26 June, 2010 at Warner Park Stadium. These dates immediately following the second Test Match between West Indies and South Africa, which will also be hosted at Warner Park, from 18-22 June, 2010.
“For those who enjoy music and sports cricket, St. Kitts will be a hot spot next summer,” said Minister Skerritt. “For only 9 days, the island will play host to two major international events, many famous music artists and some of the world’s top athletes, which will positively impact the arrival of visitors and raise the profile of St. Kitts’ tourism product on a global scale.”
The second Test Match is part of the team’s tour of South Africa West Indies beginning on May 19 with a Twenty20 International Match and closing on June 30 with the third Test Match. This key event following a series of prestigious ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies, which has hosted all the women of St. Kitts twelve games from 5-10 Mei.
Now in its 14th year in a row, St. Kitts Music Festival has become an established international event and attract the Caribbean international and local visitors with a mix of musical styles popular in the market, including R & B, Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Gospel and Contemporary music with a Caribbean reflects the unique taste. Past artists include such notable acts as John Legend, Billy Ocean, T-Pain, Michael Bolton, Wyclef Jean, Ne-Yo, Mario, Air Supply, Stephen Marley, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Boyz II Men, Regina Belle, Brian McKnight, Ashanti, Shaggy, Eve, KC & The Sunshine Band, DMX, Hugh Masekala, Xtatik, the Temptations, Chaka Khan, Maxi Priest, Ronald “Boo” Hinkson and Busta Rhymes.
