St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas said the Mercy Mission, including the Chairman of CARICOM CARICOM, Prime Minister of Dominica, Hon. Roosevelt Skerritt and Barbados’ Prime Minister, Hon. David Thompson went to Haiti affected by the earthquake on Thursday.

“When we show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Haiti, their families who have fallen victim in the hands of the terrible earthquake that has visited our sister CARICOM countries and our prayers go to Haiti at this moment the most profound needs.
Dr. Douglas also announced the formation of Haiti Solidarity Fund in St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank to help the earthquake victims. Account number is 10,250,188.
Since the announcement of Prime Minister Douglas said that a friend twin-island Federation of living in New York has pledged a donation of U.S. $ 10,000.
Dr Douglas, who has kept a busy schedule working in the office and on the campaign trail since the announced date of elections, said he held a discussion conference on Wednesday with leaders of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Pan -American Health Organization (PAHO) and World Health Organization (WHO).
St. Kitts and Nevis leader, chief spokesman for the health and problems of human resources in a quasi-Cabinet in Haiti said “health crisis with hundreds of thousands of deaths, lack of food and medicine and adequate medical facilities.”
If not for the general election campaign Prime Minister Douglas will be joined by fellow Caribbean on the way to Haiti since Thursday and report back to the leaders of the Caribbean “with first hand information about what we can do as the Caribbean Community.”
Dr. Douglas also used the opportunity to inform the residents Molineux that one of their own Kittitian Andrea Browne in Haiti who work for the United Nations safe.
