Barbados is an island of calm Caribbean bait visitors with aqua water, friendly people and fine dining.
The island is also pleased with the tourists and local residents great music, including the Barbados Jazz Festival from 11-17 January. Reuters correspondents with local knowledge give tips to help visitors get the most out of a tropical paradise.
Friday
Noon – After settling in your hotel getting ready for a little sunbathing on a beach in the world, including The Crane Resort
3:30 – Catch the last tour at the Mount Gay Rum Distillery and learn about the history of rum, a balm sailors from sailing vessels. Playing himself into learning the skills to taste at the bar.
5:00 – Treat yourself to an early dinner at Champers where you can try grilled barracuda.
7 – Apart from the Las Vegas-style shows, the main reason to visit The Plantation is a look at a truly amazing wok tradition – stage dancers. This high pedestrian dancing and even reverse the turn almost upstage the fire-eaters.
9:00 – Head to Jazz Fest and listen to music.
Saturday
8:00 to noon – Join an Island Safari and explore the coves and hidden wild places on the island. From Gun Hill Signal Station, a clear day will give you a view of most of the island. Steep beach and clear swimming pool can be tricky if you indulge yourself in the jungle juice concoction of rum
1:00 – Lunch at the Waterfront Cafe where jerk pork, pepper pot and other Caribbean dishes served in the middle of historic Bridgetown, the marina.
2:00 pm – Walk along the pier and shopping in boutiques along the street.
4:00 pm – Try your skills with surfing lessons provided by champion surfer Melanie Pitcher, who can get almost anyone up on the board.
7:00 – Head to Oistins Fish Market and settle into a picnic table at Uncle George’s, which makes you feel like family. Local flying fish with Cou Cou (corn meal and okra) derived from fresh seafood to the grill. Dance to one of the local bands and get a calypso rhythm.
9:00 – Visit the jazz festival or stop at a local rum shop to have a drink with a friendly population. Be careful about getting into the game of dominoes. The game is played seriously in here and you may find yourself quickly defeated.
Sunday
8:00 am – There are two ways to view the most colorful in Barbados, which under the water. Lazy road to go down the water in the streets of Atlantis, a real submarine to dive into a coral reef and journey through a shipwreck.
Adventurous types can try scuba diving.
11:00 am – Learn to play polo. Jeff Evelyn, a former champion polo team, will put you on a pony. Be sure to ask for light polo mallet.
4:00-7:00 – If you can stay, late Sunday with a turtle on Sunset Cocktail Catamaran Tour with Tiami. The crew will make you feel part of the party and swimming with turtles is magical.
