There are only 100 days to go until the beginning of the ICC World Twenty20 2010 and the Tournament Director Robert Bryan said the `momentum is building as the area prepares to host the cricket event of this blockbuster.`
`Coming to 2010 we have seen increased interest in the tournament with more fans and even inquired about buying tickets. They realized that we were only three months away from the party and the biggest Twenty20 is a large number of talk and excitement about it, `said Bryan.
`We have the best of the best in international cricket came to the West Indies for two weeks of stunning action in male and female cricket fan and do not want to lose,` he added, speaking to the media at a brief ceremony at the Beausejour Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia herald 100 days countdown.
In addition, he noted that the tournament has been enhanced preparation and will continue to do so with the count well and truly on.
`There will be a final inspection of the end of this month to ensure that all elements of progress as appropriate preparations and to examine the places and the renovation is being done to make them ready for game day. After providing a brief update on the work at Beausejour, which will host the group matches and the Super Eight and semi-final game, he invited the media, government and sports officials to tour and see the constant upgrades to the facility.
ICC WT20 `project team has been working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Sports Saint Lucia Beausejour Inc. to bring to the required standard. This work began last November and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month (January 2010), `explains the ICC WT20 Tournament Director in 2010.
Bryan also reported that the preparation of three other hosts – Barbados, Guyana and St Kitts – no progress smoothly and `we are confident that all deadlines will be met as we move toward hosting this important event.`
